We have a correct answer! Yes, that's the film. Look closely at that seaside hacienda with the exotic architecture and fountain room in the Alcocer film, this structure also is prominently featured in the 1982 Franco film as the site where the villains often meet to plot the downfall of the heroine. The untalented Alcocer also made the Francoesque SOLO UN ATAUD (1966), sometimes known as THE ORGIES OF DR. ORLOFF, with Franco regular Howard Vernon, actually a sexy version of THE CAT AND THE CANARY, which Franco would also remake in 1973 as LA NOCHE DE LOS ASESINO. The Karloff film has another Jess Franco connection in that its plot involving a mad [?] artists and sculptures created from the bodies murdered women closely parallels the plot of Franco's TWO UNDERCOVER ANGELS, also filmed in Spain in 1967. Franco is often called a commercial hack but his treatment of the same material is far more sophisticated and personal than the Alcocer. We'll be taking a close look at the alternate "clothed" Spanish language version of that film (which has a different montage and is considerably longer) in the near future. And WELCOME, Mirek! Hope to see you here often...
