Thanks to Jayson for blogging on this odd UK video of Jess Franco's VIRGIN AMONG THE LIVING DEAD. He reports that it's actually an NTSC VHS running approximately 88m. I've never come across this video version before. Visit Jayson's excellent Basement of Ghoulish Decadence blog at www.ghoulbasement.blogspot.com/ for more information.

This vintage VHS was released by Careyvision Ltd. in 1985. The name Cinema Shares Ltd. Distribution also appears on the tape, according to Jayson. It seems to be a rarity and I was wondering if anyone else had seen it, collected it, or has any more information on its background or content.

Thank you very much for the mention!

It's definitely an unexpected anomaly!

I have a few PAL tapes and they of course refuse to play, yet this surprisingly played without a hitch. I'm still digging without finding any further info unfortunately.

In addition to the wonderful cover art, this release is interesting in that it is the version with the Rollin inserts, but also has bizarre optical censoring of some of the nudity: the only way to decribe it is that the screen is masked off by a shaped black matte!

Welcome to the blog and thanks for the info that this exists.

I figured this may be somehow censored. The WIZARD vintage Tape was censored with a black ball!

Great post as for me. I'd like to read more concerning that theme.
By the way look at the design I've made myself Overnight escorts

I've had this tape for years but never watched it. I might do now though just to see the bizarre optical censoring.

I used to own a copy of this tape, and probably still do - somewhere. The Rollin inserts are terrible, and the matte that censors the nudity, etc, is intrusive, rendering some scenes completely meaningless. It's a mess of a release.
