I'm now enjoying the invigorating, infectious Bruno Nicolai score for Jess Franco's 1967 Eurospy parody, AGENTE SPECIALE L.K.: OPERAZIONE RE MIDA/LUCKY THE INSCRUTABLE on CD. But when are we going to get a deluxe, OAR, RI DVD presentation of this wonderfully entertaining number?
Hopefully, those friends of Jess at Severin or Mondo Macabro are reading this and thinking....
I know a semi-widescreen, semi decent looking bootleg of this (or maybe even two different bootlegs) have appeared here and there over the past couple of months, one I think from a nice, partially-letterboxed foreign TV broadcast digitally recorded and with the English dub synched up. (I don't own it though). A R1 disc would be optimal and I would have preferred a restored LUCKY over stuff like KISS ME MONSTER which has had multiple VHS and DVD releases.
ReplyDeleteI don't know of any good DVD of this anywhere. It was shot in eye popping Technicolor and the 2.35:1 Techniscope format would be crucial. Franco had already mastered 2.35:1 composition by this time and the Pop/Op Art visuals need to be experienced in sharp def and rich color to be fully enjoyed. I've also only seen a partially letterboxed old blurry video of this. Too bad. It should be on DVD fro a BU, Severin or MM or somebody.
ReplyDeleteThat's really cool. I'm sure you are enjoying it.
