Most cited Franco film on lists...

Of the ten lists I have posted so far the film that gets the most mentions is VIRGIN AMONG THE LIVING DEAD, appearing on 7 out of the 10 lists. No votes yet for COUNT DRACULA. That's not really a surprise as it always has drawn very mixed reviews. Thanks to everyone who has sent in lists and I encourage readers to email me their lists which I will post with an image of your No 1 Franco film.

wow, thank u for posting my list, man!
actually those jess videos were played in 2 festivals: the 1st was a gay one and the 2nd was dedicated to jess.
Venus in Furs has parts filmed in Brazil too...
    thanks again!

I guess I'm in the minority about EL CONDE DRACULA. While it doesn't have the trippy, pulp flavor that Franco generally brought to his gothic horrors, I still enjoy it for its cast and that surreal stuffed animal scene. There you have it!

  3. Wow, Jess Franco shown at a gay video festival! Several Franco films including FUTURE WOMEN, THE BLOOD OF FU MANCHU, 99 WOMEN, were partially lensed in Brazil. Thanks, Estevao.

I also find EL CONDE DRACULA compelling in a Jess Franco kind of way, and I do find that stuffed animal attack amusing. I'm going to post more on EL CONDE DRACULA in the future. Thanks again for your comments, Doug.

  4. I've thought of submitting a list, but I need my memory refreshed about some titles and the list I would provide now would be fairly redundant. The lists you've run cover all the most conspicuously outstanding titles. Perhaps strangely, I don't think A VIRGIN AMONG THE LIVING DEAD would make my list, but that might change. Perhaps you can move from here to compilations of people's lists of their favorite Franco moments? I remain inordinately fond of Franco's faked slow-motion death scene in BARBED WIRE DOLLS.

  5. Tim, you can email me a 10 Best list or a list of favorite Franco moments and I will post it with an image of a film you mention. Good idea, I'll start a new blog on favorite Franco moments. I have so many it's hard to know where to begin!
