Both correct. Alexz, I'd would like to hear more about your interview with him. Is there a link?
Klimovsky went from making melodramas, musicals and a lot of Eurowesterns to LA NOCHE DE WALPURGIS in 1970 which sparked the Spanish horror boom of the early 1970s. His style is somewhat indefinable and almost anonymous, quirky at times. Franco worked for him as a scriptwriter (MIEDO, AMA ROSA) and also as an assistant director.
Sorry, there's no link. 2000maniacos was and still is an old fashioned fanzine: print paper and staples. I could scan you the interview, though it is in spanish.
Alexz, I would be most interested in seeing this interview. I run the Castilian Crimson website dedicated to Spanish horror, a Naschy website, and also contribute Franco material here and there. If possible, perhaps I could translate it and put it on the web (obviously with your permission and the permission of the editor of 2000 Maniacos) or print it in a fanzine I'm thinking of starting. My e-mail is: eurosin@aol.com
Leon Klimovsky.
ReplyDeleteLeon Klimovsky! I had the chance to interviewed him a long time ago for 2000maniacos. Nice little man, warm and gentle. Great pleasure to talk with!
