That's kinda censorship or something I certainly find sinister in that it leaves out thousands of great possibilities and predictates family standards. Since I don't relate or watch contemporary mainstream movies I guess that leaves G rated older films. It's funny that torture and violence is OK on TV but no sex on Blu-ray.
If that holds I won't support it and certainly can't afford a dual player, cables, a new TV and the HD discs themselves. It will all come down but I'm sure new post HD tech will follow which may make them obselete. So, it's a game I can't play.Robert Monellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06309327472702575547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30886366.post-1172096263695150632007-02-21T17:17:00.000-05:002007-02-21T17:17:00.000-05:00Since Sony controls Blu-ray replication for the fo...Since Sony controls Blu-ray replication for the foreseeable future, and will not allow sexually-related material (not just porn), if Unca Jess is to be released in HD he will be on HD DVD, not BD. Don May couldn't even get THRILLER approved for BD.

The 6x better figure is the difference that's usually cited for HD/BD vs regular DVD. Both HD DVD and BD are capable of 1080p, so there shouldn't be any visual difference assuming the same codecs and masters. That's pretty much borne out by reviews of the Warner discs that have been issued in both formats thus far.

Mark Zimmer
digitallyObsessed.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30886366.post-1171653332830818012007-02-16T14:15:00.000-05:002007-02-16T14:15:00.000-05:00I have just rec some new info on the de Nesle titl...I have just rec some new info on the de Nesle titles from two separate sources. There is something going on in terms of movement toward possible releases but there is also a behind the scenes struggle which may be delaying it. In terms of the rights holder, if he's the present one and hasn't resold them, I have his name, address and contact info. Apparently he's a difficult person who knows nothing about the films themselves and that could be a problem. But events seem to be developing. I can't be more specific than that. But I do believe we will see these on DVD sooner than later. I have also been told that some of the de Nesle titles [PERVERSE COUNTESS and a few others] are not among his collection and seem to be lost at this point or with another person. That's all I can say for now.Robert Monellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06309327472702575547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30886366.post-1171644607422781832007-02-16T11:50:00.000-05:002007-02-16T11:50:00.000-05:00"... have the materials for the de Nesle titles ac..."... have the materials for the de Nesle titles actually been discovered?"

The materials should be not the problem in most cases, the rights are the problem!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30886366.post-1171419142631244162007-02-13T21:12:00.000-05:002007-02-13T21:12:00.000-05:00"or the finally discovered Robert de Nesle collect..."or the finally discovered Robert de Nesle collection..."

Is that wishful thinking or have the materials for the de Nesle titles actually been discovered?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30886366.post-1171403645841338322007-02-13T16:54:00.000-05:002007-02-13T16:54:00.000-05:00No, that's not the disc. Actually I had a rather elegant image of side by side Blu-ray and HD discs I should have used instead. Now I gotta go back and edit my delirious, typo filled blog unwisely composed too soon after dental surgery!
